Navy On The Hook For Extra Base Costs Caused By Protesters, Delay

South Korea's navy is going to pay compensation to a construction company after protests delayed the building of a naval base on Jeju Island, reports the Yonhap news agency.
A commercial arbitration board in June ordered the navy to pay US$23.2 million to Samsung C&T Corp., an official at South Korea's defense procurement agency revealed on Friday.
Following the arbitration ruling, the agency included the compensation in the budget.
