The U.S. Navy is moving towards developing two hull designs as part of the recapitalization of its sealift fleet, reports Defense News.
The Navy launched the Common Hull Auxiliary Multi-Mission Platform program last year to replace its aging fleet of auxiliaries and sealift vessels with new ships based on a common design. The service was initially seeking to develop a single hull that could undertake five different missions.
