The U.S. Navy has decided to cut seven shipboard collateral duties for sailors, effective immediately, reports the Navy Times.
A working group has also been set up to evaluate other collateral duties for elimination or consolidation, according to the announcement Tuesday by Adm. John Richardson, the chief of naval operations.
The change was driven by a desire to remove the extra tasks so sailors can focus on their primary duties, says the CNO's office.
