Navy, Coast Guard Practice Defending Dokdo Islands

The South Korean coast guard and navy have recently concluded a two-day exercise simulating the defense of the disputed Dokdo islands, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).
The drill, which has been conducted twice a year since 1986, is designed to deter trespassers by sea and air, said an unnamed navy officer.
Last week’s defensive exercise was set for a time of renewed Japanese claims to the territory, noted South Korean military officers.
