The U.S. Navy has awarded three technology development contracts to industry teams seeking to produce a replacement for the Aegis radar, Defense News reports.
Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon received contracts Thursday for $120 million, $119 million and $112.3 million, respectively.
The contracts will allow the companies to continue work on the new Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) until September 2012.
