Navantia Launches Cristobal Colon Frigate

Spanish shipbuilder Navantia has announced the launching of the fifth Alvaro de Bazan-class frigate being built for the Spanish navy.
The Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus) was launched on Thursday at the Fene-Ferrol shipyard.
Work on the warship (F-105) began in June 2007. The keel was laid in February 2009, and it is scheduled to be commissioned in the summer of 2012, shipyard officials said.
