The U.S. Navy will keep its high-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) demonstrator in the Persian Gulf for another year, reports Bloomberg News.
The aircraft, a variant of the Global Hawk being developed as part of the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) program, has been flying in the region since February 2009.
The system was scheduled to end its patrols this year for additional domestic testing and development.
