The Iranian navy says it has seized a dozen suspected pirates who had attacked a merchant ship in the Indian Ocean, reports the Tehran Times.
The suspects carried out their attack late last week as the cargo ship was on the way to Iran, said Rear Adm. Habibollah Sayyari, the navy chief.
The domestically designed and built destroyer Jamaran deployed a boarding party, which gained control of the vessel during a 36-hour operation that concluded Saturday, Sayyari said.
