The number of pirate attacks worldwide is down almost a fifth this year, Reuters reports, citing statistics from the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) in London.
The IMB's piracy reporting center logged 196 incidents from January to June this year, compared to 240 incidents during the first half of 2009.
Foreign navies deployed in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia have contributed to the decline, IMB officials said.
