A top Russian officer says the navy has decided to equip its warships with NATO navigation and communications systems to improve coordination in anti-piracy missions, reports RIA Novosti.
The issue was discussed during a recent meeting of the NATO-Russia Council in Brussels, said Chief of the Russian General Staff Gen. Nikolai Makarov.
Since 2008, ships from Russia and NATO countries have patrolled the waters off the coast of Somalia to deter piracy.
