Afghan troops carried out a successful anti-insurgent operation last week at Forward Operating Base Sperwan Ghar in Kandahar province, NATO's International Security Assistance Force reports.

During the operation, soldiers with the 2nd Kandak (battalion) patrolled through villages near the base and checked compounds for insurgents and explosive devices, NATO officials said. The Afghans were supported by Canadian mentors.
