A North Korean fishing vessel suspected of poaching has sunk after colliding with a Japanese patrol boat, reports the Japan Times.
The incident occurred on Monday about 220 miles (350 kilometers) northwest of the Noto peninsula in Ishikawa prefecture, said the Japanese Fisheries Agency.
The Okuni, a 1,300-ton patrol boat, had ordered the North Korean vessel to leave Japan's exclusive economic zone when the fishing boat made a sharp turn, resulting in a collision.
