Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Somali military base near the border with Kenya, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).
On Monday, after the suicide car bombing, the militants stormed the base in Balad Hawo, said an Al-Shabaab spokesman.
The terrorist group claimed it killed 24 Somali soldiers. A Somali military official said 10 soldiers and seven militants were killed.
The terror group said it released 35 from a local jail, noted Reuters.
