Moscow Denies Reports Of Ships Being Sent To Syria

A Russian news agency says two Russian amphibious assault ships are being readied to head to the Syrian port of Tartus, the Daily Telegraph (U.K.) reports.
The ships Nikolay Filchenkov and Tsezar' Kunikov are preparing for deployment, a naval officer told Russia's Interfax-AVN on Monday.
The ships will carry a contingent of Russian marines, who could be used to safeguard Russian nationals and equipment in Syria in the event of an emergency, Reuters reported.
