Mexican President Lopez Abrader has ordered another 4,000 troops to provide security for state-owned pipeline facilities, reports the Mexico News Daily.
The troops will join the 4,000 soldiers and marines already stationed to guard the six main Pemex pipelines, which stretch nearly 995 miles (1,600 km), Obrador said on Jan. 10.
Surveillance bases will also be set up along the pipeline network from which the military will carry out anti-fuel theft operations, the president said.
