More Innovation Needed, Says Military Official

The vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission has urged Chinese industry to pick up the pace when it comes to innovation and improvements in the country's defense technology capabilities, reports Xinhua, China's state news agency.
"China is in a crucial transition from 'big' to 'strong,' and our military's equipment construction is shifting from catch-up research to independent innovations," Xu Qiliang said in a statement issued on Monday.
