More Furloughs Possible In Absence Of Comprehensive Cost-Sharing Deal

Temporary funding for South Korean workers on U.S. bases may soon run out in the absence of a comprehensive cost-sharing agreement, reports Reuters.
In an Oct. 5 letter to the South Korean Labor Ministry, U.S. Forces-Korea (USFK) warned that temporary funding for the salaries of those South Korean employees would expire on Dec. 31.
USFK warned that those employees, who number about 9,000, would be furloughed as of April 1, 2021, in the absence of a new agreement.
