The Sudanese army fought on Tuesday with rebels from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), Agence France-Presse reports.
About 60 army and allied militia vehicles attacked JEM patrols near Kuma, North Darfur, a rebel spokesman said.
Government forces fled to Kuma, according to the spokesman. Pursuing JEM forces then reportedly destroyed the army's camp and captured 34 vehicles.
