North Korea resumed firing artillery shells Thursday near its disputed sea border with South Korea, CNN reports.
The shells were fired towards the South Korean-controlled Yeonpyeong Island, but fell north of the de facto border between the Koreas, South Korean officials said.
In response, the South Korean military fired Vulcan cannons into the air, military officials said.
On Wednesday, Pyongyang said its shots were part of a live-fire drill.
