Turkey has indicated it will buy nine AgustaWestland A129 Mangusta attack helicopters to fight Kurdish separatists near the borders with Iraq and Iran, Defense News reports.
Ankara plans to negotiate with Turkish Aerospace Industries, the prime contractor in a program to jointly manufacture 50 T129 attack helicopters with AgustaWestland. The T129s, a Turkish variant of the A129, are expected to be operational in 2014.
