More Than 30,000 Deaths Recorded In Drug Wars In 4 Years

Mexico's attorney general says more than 30,100 people have died since President Felipe Calderon ordered a crackdown on drug cartels after taking office in late 2006, CNN reports.

The goal has been to restore the rule of law, and there has been some weakening of cartels' criminal structures, said Arturo Chavez Chavez at a year-end meeting on Thursday.

Authorities have seized drugs worth about US$11.2 billion and secured more than US$420 million from money-laundering...
