The U.S. Navy has christened its newest attack submarine during a virtual ceremony in Virginia, reports the builder, Huntington Ingalls Industries.
The Montana (SSN-794) was christened on Sept. 14 at the company’s shipyard in Newport News, Va., said a company release.
The Montana is about 85 percent complete and received her pressure hull certification earlier this year. Construction on the submarine began in 2015 and she is scheduled for delivery in 2021.
