Monitors Call Independence Vote 'Credible'

Last week's referendum over independence in southern Sudan was "credible and well organized," said international monitors cited by Bloomberg News.

The turnout for the week-long voting that ended on Saturday surpassed the 60 percent required for validation, said Veronique de Keyser, the chief of the European Union observer mission.
