Modified MRAP Designed To Zap Unexploded Bombs With Laser

The U.S. Air Force has been developing a mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle to clear airfields of explosives, reports the Military Times.

The RABDO (an acronym for recovery of airbase denied by ordnance) is equipped with a robotic arm and a 3-kilowatt laser, which is operated using a video game-type controller.

Fifteen of the modified Cougar vehicles, including the prototype, could be ready by early fiscal 2017, according to program officials.
