Mississippi Sub Successfully Finishes Initial Sea Trials

General Dynamics Electric Boat, Groton, Conn., has completed the initial sea trials for the Navy's newest Virginia-class attack submarine, reports the defense firm.
The Mississippi, the ninth boat in the class, submerged for the first time and conducted high-speed runs on the surface and underwater during the trials.
The testing demonstrated that the sub's propulsion plant is fully mission capable, according to a General Dynamics release.
