A test of the U.S. long-range ballistic missile defense system failed on Wednesday over the Pacific Ocean, CNN reports.
The intermediate-range ballistic missile target and the long-range interceptor missile launched successfully, the radar and sensors worked properly and the kill vehicle deployed, said officials from the Missile Defense Agency.
However, the kill vehicle failed to hit the target, officials said.
