Japan's defense minister is due in South Korea next week in an effort to develop closer military ties, the New York Times reports.
Toshimi Kitazawa will reportedly propose separate agreements on logistics cooperation during peacekeeping and other international operations, and on the sharing of sensitive military information.
The minister also will discuss the possible scheduling of regular high-level meetings between defense officials, according to Japanese media.
