Military Tries To Bring In 30,000 Recruits Over 4 Years, While Insisting Post-Coup Purge Hasn't Hurt Operations

The Turkish military says it now needs more than 30,000 recruits after thousands were of security personnel were fired following a failed coup in July, according to state media cited by Agence France-Presse

Many of those fired were allegedly linked to U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen. They were detained or removed from their positions, including around 9,300 arrested in the army alone. Ankara blames Gulen for orchestrating the failed July 15 coup.
