The Russian military has announced that is is providing logistics for a humanitarian operation for civilians in eastern Syria, reports Russia's RT news channel.
The first 22 tons of aid were air-dropped by a Syrian Il-76 using Russian airdrop systems to the Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, said Lt. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy, the chief of the main operations department of the General Staff.
Rudskoy made his remarks on Friday in Moscow.
