An Israeli military patrol was hit by two bombs near the Gaza border on Wednesday, Ha'aretz (Israel) reports.
The patrol consisted of paratroopers as well as armored and engineering units, Israeli military officials said.
A third bomb was disabled by army sapper, officials said. No Israeli casualties were reported.
Helicopter gunships were then deployed and reportedly opened fire.
The Islamic Jihad militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
