Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the military junta in Sudan, says the military-led government will step down to enable the formation of a civilian government, reports Agence France-Presse.
On Monday, Burhan, who seized power in a coup in October 2021, said the military would withdraw from national talks led by the U.N. and regional blocs and allow “political and revolutionary forces and other national factions” to form a civilian government.
