The Israeli military says it will maintain the current level of deferrals for teenagers permitted to perform voluntary national service or to study at a pre-military academy for one year before beginning their mandatory military service, reports Haaretz.
The decision followed a decrease in the number of recruits, according to military officials.
The army said that overall decrease is due to a rise in the number of ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students who do not serve in the army....
