The South Korean military says it has found a North Korean wooden-box land mine, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).
A navy unit found the mine Thrursday on an islet near the western maritime border. The unit was searching for such weapons, said the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The mine was likely swept away from North Korea by recent heavy rains, said the military. It was destroyed by a bomb defusal team.
