The South Korean military says it will soon launch an indigenous reconnaissance satellite project, reports the Yonhap news agency.
The US$880 million program seeks to place five satellites into operation by 2023 to collect intelligence on the Korean peninsula and nearby regions, said the military on Friday.
The project has been delayed for four years in part due to disagreements among the Defense Ministry, Science Ministry and National Intelligence Service.
