Russia plans to upgrade 30 percent of its fleet of military vehicles and weapons over the next three years, reports Interfax-AVN.
From 2009 to 2011, almost 30 percent of military equipment will be replaced by new models, said Gen. Nikolai Makarov, chief of the Russian General Staff, in an interview with Vesti television.
The army and navy are expected to be almost completely equipped with new weapons before 2020, Makarov said.
