Gunmen ambushed a military convoy Sunday in the Rasht district in northern Tajikistan, RTT News reports.
At least 25 troops were killed as they were passing through Rasht Valley, Defense Ministry officials said. Another 20 soldiers were reportedly wounded.
Foreign fighters, including some from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Chechnya, were believed to be involved in the attack, a ministry spokesman said.
