At least 11 people were killed late Sunday in a militant attack in a village near Tezpur in India's northeastern Assam state, reports the Calcutta Telegraph.
A dozen or so rebels alleged to be part of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) opened fire in the Balchang Dimajuli village after residents refused to meet the group's extortion demands, according to the Press Trust of India.
