Indian troops have killed nine suspected militants trying to cross into Indian-controlled Kashmir, the New York Times reports.
Soldiers spotted the heavily armed infiltrators and engaged in a firefight, an army spokesman said Monday.
Fighting began on Sunday and lasted through Monday night, according to Indian officials.
