Militants Forced From Southern Strongholds

Islamist militants in southern Yemen have confirmed that their forced have been pulled from former strongholds of Zinjibar and Jaar, reports the Yemen Post.

Yemeni troops have fought months-long battles in Abyan province for the two cities, which Ansar al-Sharia seized last year.

Ansar al-Sharia, which works with Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), said in a statement on Tuesday that its fighters withdrew from the cities to avoid shedding the blood of Muslims, reported...
