Militants armed with rockets and guns killed seven Pakistani soldiers and injured 16 others on Friday in an ambush on a military convoy in North Waziristan, Pakistan's Dawn reports.
Dozens of militants were involved in the attack, which took place in Dattakhel, said Pakistani intelligence officials. The area is known as a Taliban stronghold.
Two officers were reported among the dead.
