In a first, the head of Britain's international intelligence agency has given a public speech about his organization, reports the Wall Street Journal.

In the past, even the name of the head of MI6 was not made public.

Sir John Sawers, the head of the MI6 secret intelligence service, indicated that fighting terrorism remains the agency's primary focus and condemned the use of torture to gather intelligence.
