Men purporting to belong to the Mexican Zetas drug cartel have threatened to launch a war in Guatemala after a government crackdown opposing the gang's takeover of the nation's northern Alta Verapaz province, reports the Guardian (U.K.).
Since the state of siege was declared on Dec. 19, government forces have detained 21 suspects and seized small planes and 150 weapons, including grenade launchers, Guatemalan officials said.
