The senior U.S. commander in Afghanistan says he hopes the increased troop level will lead to an eventual peace deal, Reuters reports.
Gen. Stanley McChrystal, in an interview with the Financial Times, said that there had been "enough fighting." He did not rule out the possibility that the Taliban could eventually participate in the government.
