Somali authorities have confirmed the death of Al-Qaida leader Fazul Abdullah Mohammed in Mogadishu, reports the Christian Science Monitor.
Mohammed was wanted for planning the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed at least 224 people.
The Al-Qaida operative was killed last Tuesday at a checkpoint in Mogadishu by Somali troops, apparently after he got lost.
