The Marine Corps is considering alternative shipping platforms in order to quickly gather Marine units from around the Pacific in a crisis, reports the Marine Corps Times.
A planned move of thousands of Marines from Okinawa in Japan to other locations in the region will create more flexibility, but also lead to an "aggregation challenge" for major operations, said Marine Commandant Joseph Dunford at an event in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
