Marine Special Operators To Pack .45-Caliber Pistols

The Marine Forces Special Operations Command expects to use .45-caliber semi-automatic pistols instead of the standard 9-mm pistols carried by other Marines, the Marine Corps Times reports.
The M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistol is modeled after the weapon used by Force Recon units since the 1980s. A competition was launched in October.
The Corps plans to buy between 400 and 12,000 pistols in a proposed contract worth up to $22.5 million, said officials.
