Maoist rebels, reacting to the killing of a senior leader last week, have conducted a spate of attacks in three Indian states, reports the BBC News.
The Maoists, also known as Naxalites, attacked railway stations, police stations and other targets in Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand states, killing seven people, including five police officers, according to police officials.
Six militants were killed in the fighting.
