Mandate In Somalia Said To Be Too Restrictive

Ugandan Defense Minister Crispus Kiyonga has called for a review of the mandate for peacekeeping forces in Somalia, saying current policies hinder the mission, reports the New Vision (Kampala).
Uganda provides most of the troops for the African Union-led mission.
Kiyonga told the Ugandan parliament: "As per now, the mandate is very restrictive. It is framed in a way that they cannot attack. They might even know that the insurgents are planning an attack but they cannot attack...
