The Indian government has approved three foreign military equipment orders worth a total of US$3.4 billion, reports the Economic Times (India).
The three contracts were cleared Wednesday by the Defense Acquisition Council. The deals include domestic production of the systems.
India has agreed to buy 56 C-295 transport aircraft from Airbus for US$1.87 billion to replace the Avro cargo plane fleet. Sixteen will be built in Europe, with the balance being produced domestically. ...
