Major Joint Exercise With U.S. Kicks Off

The Japanese Self-Defense Forces are about to begin a major week-long exercise with U.S. forces off the southern coast of Japan, reports the Voice of America News.
The Keen Sword drills that start Friday are expected to involve combined forces of 60 warships, 400 aircraft and 44,000 troops.
Keen Sword is a routine biennial event and not related to increased tension on the Korean peninsula, emphasized U.S. officials.
